I am a freshman in college and I am still undecided on what I should major in and what career path I should be thinking about. I am interested in engineering but I am unsure if that is the path I want to take and if it is what type of engineering to go into. I am afraid that I will get bored doing one thing everyday. If I pursue Electrical Engineering, for example, will I be able to work on many different types of projects? Will I be stuck behind a desk all day or will I be able to get to work on things with my hands or in the field? My biggest fear is going into something and not liking it or getting bored with the job. Mechanical, Environmental, and Materials Engineering also interest me. I, for instance, have interned for a few different companies, all of which, I did NOT sit at a desk all day. My current position, which is my first full time job since I graduated this past December 2013, is within sales, as an associate systems engineer. It is a really interpersonal and people oriented position which I enjoy. Engineers often come off as being very introverted, but I am a very outgoing young woman and there is a real need for outgoing engineers. You will always be able to find a job that fits your personality in engineering. I hope this helps. Please don't hesitate to learn more about the different opportunities out there.
