I just finished my undergraduate degree in Chemical Engineering. I am wondering how you can enter a particular field of interest in engineering without relevant experience in that field. I am finding difficult to just start as an engineer. The experience I have is either not relevant enough for the jobs I have applied to or not enough period. So how do you start as an engineer if most or none of the companies are willing to train or invest in the young graduates.
I did really well school, have coop experience, and have many skills that employers would love to have. Yet I am finding that my friends that slacked in school, are lazy, and slide by in school with minimum work got jobs before me without even experience. It seems to me that companies are always hiring the bottom pit of people. Some advice would be nice as it's been over six month of struggle.
